Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season

In a surprising collaboration that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Uncovered

According to the official statement, "A mysterious confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous changes echo through the shadows." The storyline features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a hidden group.

The questline concentrates on "peculiar trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Transformations

The preview highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the hostage, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Bonus Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an exclusive katana alongside numerous objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

  • Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
  • Mikasa outfit for Naoe
  • Special weapons
  • Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Content

This update also introduces the game's latest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Crossovers

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally featured a quest that clearly nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
